The Hobbit

of course, i can definitely not let the first day pass without watching it. ^^

watched The Hobbit with my sister. i was excited and all since it's the prequel for The Lord of the Rings so i went ahead and bought tickets for us in advance. my sister was like, she'll be bored and sleepy and stuff but it was the total opposite once the film started. Peter Jackson didn't fail me. woot~ woot! i am really glad PJ directed it or it would've been different. i mean, i have seen the LOTR Trilogy gazillion times that PJ's signature shots and all are imprinted already in me. seeing The Hobbit, it is definitely a PJ film! it's so nice to see again in the big screen the place where the LOTR Trilogy was filmed. apart from PJ directing the next Trilogy, i also like how they included some songs. there really are songs in the books and since there are really a lot in LOTR to put into a 3-hour film, they had to cut the song parts, which is not in the case of The Hobbit since it's actually just one book turned into a three-part film, which i don't object.

will be watching it again with mom tomorrow, Saturday. excited again! ^^ can't wait till the dvd comes out. i can re-watch it countless times.

Abe & Mike

unlikely tandem, right?!

watched these two films last Friday. and i was right, i was entertained.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter made the life of one of America's president more colorful by adding spice as a vampire hunter as his other life. of course, the US history became more dramatic and epic with vampires in it. nice twist of history. the film's not gory at all, if one's expecting that it would be since it involves vampires and hunting.

Magic Mike, on the other hand, has a more shallow plot. it's basically about a 30-year old male stripper trying to save to set-up his own business. i didn't watch it for Channing, ftr. i actually watch it for Matt Bomer. i've heard him sing in Glee and i wanted to see how he fair when it comes to dancing, like a stripper, and he's good. Alex Pettyfer has matured so much since Beastly. i still think he looks like Nick Carter at some angles. Channing has aged a lot since the first time i saw him in an Amanda Bynes film. and Matthew McConaughey is darn old! haha but he fits perfectly the role. oh, Olivia Munn reminds me of Julia Stiles. but i think she needs more work with her acting skills.

the PH theatrical version, btw, has a lot of cuts. i saw this pic of Matt wearing a scrubs pants but it wasn't on the one i've seen. will wait for the uncut and hopefully unrated version of the film. lmao

next movie to watch, Batman ~ The Dark Knight Rises. ^^ been hitting the movie theaters often since the start of the year. something i missed doing.

Orlando back as Legolas for The Hobbit. ^^

classic shot of the Prince of Mirkwood, Legolas Greenleaf. ^___^

HBO-Asia had a Lord of the Rings marathon yesterday.
best Saturday ever! ^^
not that i don't have the dvds nor have not seen the films countless times.
it's just that, having it shown on tv still excites me.

i watched this film by myself once again without any expectations. i saw the trailer and thought it's a good film to see. i'm not a fan of Kristen nor Chris but still, the trailer caught my eye. and i'm glad i did watch it. i was totally surprise at how much i liked it. it reminds me of a lot of the films i've seen before and yet i didn't feel that the scenes were forced or something like that.

Charlize was just superb being the evil queen. i've seen her play a lot of roles that are totally the opposite of being evil and yet she's so convincing being one! Kristen, on the other hand, was also good. well, a lot have said that she's good but with her Twilight acting, a lot also have said how boring her acting was. but hey, Bella is actually a boring character and she played it just right. anyhow, though i also got bored watching her as Bella, she was good playing Snow White. i think it's the fact that she spoke less in this film that made her really good. 'coz when she delivered the final lines in the film, i kinda cringed since it's not powerful at all. i mean, being the queen already and such, i don't think she's convincing with that kind of line delivery. well, that's me. and i thought for a second that she'd fall and tumble wearing that armor. haha she's darn thin and tiny! but despite those unkind remarks of mine, i still think she was good in this film.

Chris, goodness, was huge! i mean, built-wise. i haven't seen Thor nor The Avengers so i really don't have an idea how big he is even if i know he is one. seeing him as the Huntsman, well, i was mesmerized and distracted. in a very good way. can't help but just look at his eyes whenever he's the focus. i actually like Liam more over Chris but i can't help but admiring the big bro as well. those two are just eye-candies! :) acting-wise, well, i think he was ok. i mean, not that he's not good but i think that there's only little acting needed to play the role. but i think he's the perfect Huntsman. right?

Sam, the duke's son, was ok. just like Chris. i mean, same thought, little acting needed to play Snow White's Prince Charming. but i'm convinced that after the long years of being separated from his childhood friend/love, his love for her is real and pure. i guess he just needed to prove it to her.

just like how the hunky-Huntsman should prove if he really was indeed falling for Snow.

♫ Here comes the Men in Black~ ♫

watched the latest MIB film today. brings back old memories from my uni days. just like the past 2 films, i was entertained and amused. i actually miss seeing the pug in the film! it's actually nice to see Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones play Agents J & K respectively after more than a decade. i didn't have any idea that the towards the ending, Agent J would learn why he grew up without a dad and why he was recruited by Agent K in the first place. i knew he would discover why Agent K has the same facial expression for all sorts of emotion since it's pretty much the premise of the film. and yeah, that he would be able to save him in the past.

btw, it's nice to see Emma Thompson in it! lol OMG! i was lmao when she delivered her eulogy.

if you wanna relax over the weekend, have a good laugh, be amused and travel back in time, literally, go see Men In Black 3.

it was a nice film.
Johnny Depp's really good, as always.

oh yes, Titanic, the movie, comes back.
i mean, it has returned to theaters in remembrance of the 100th year of its sinking last April 15.
i watched it with my cousin, who's only 6 years old when it first hit theaters back in 1998.
i didn't watch it back then.
too busy with school.
so i watched it this time, with my cousin.
it's like his all-time favorite film!
glad i did.
though it's my first, and will be the last time if i can help it, time watching a 3D film.
the glasses was very uncomfortable.
it took me a while to adjust.
i don't have a 20/20 vision but i'm not blind w/o eyeglasses.
i'm just not comfortable with those kind of glasses if should be worn more than a few minutes.
but i still enjoyed watching Leo & Kate on the big screen.
even if i've seen the film so many times already.

not a big fan, huh?!
but really, i am not.
i just wanna see it on the 1st day since i have a tendency to let a movie pass if i don't get to see it on the opening day.

like it! ^^
can't wait for the 2nd installment.

yay for Gale! ^____^

just a few hours away...
today's gonna be epic!

Watched The Lakehouse, which stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, yesterday with my mom and sister. As planned, we watched it twice. We're already at the cinema for the first screening hour and then went again on the 2nd screening. My mom can't get enough of Keanu, that's for sure, that she watched it again today with her friend from her previous work. She's still planning to watch it with her other sets of friends. she won't stop until it's been replaced by a new one.

Anyways, I'm glad that Hollywood remained true (for a change) to the original film, Il Mare - a korean film with Jeon Je Hyun and Lee Jung Jae, where it was based. Well, they did modify some of the characters' background as well as added a few scenes and stoylines.

Spoilers )

As a whole, I was not disappointed with the Hollywood adoptation of Il Mare, and I'm glad I wasn't. I like Il Mare from the time i've seen it about a year ago and I was actually a bit hesitant to watch the Hollywood version since Hollywood is notorious for, how should I say it nicely, adopting something but totally changing it, just like The Ring. And just what my mom said earlier, it's good that they had Keanu Reeves. I mean, I know that a number really don't like him and the way he acts, but we must admit that he's a total hottie and really popular. I'm no big Keanu-fan, as what I said from my past post, but I always watch his film. He acts fairly ok. I liked him from the time he played Neo in Matrix. And to those who hasn't seen the original version, I recommend that you guys watch it. Not for comparison purposes or whatsover but it's always good to see the orginal one, right? And oh, I actually ripped the insert songs from Il Mare from a long time ago. It's really a good one. I also like the songs from The Lake House. I hope to see a copy on our music stores here from where I am.
